Appendices An important thing to remember when dealing with appendices is that the Appendices section heading must be included in the Table of Contents, but each individual appendix cannot be included.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. If it not the outline view settings, my guess is that the headings are formatted to have the same font settings as normal text. This is done in some reports and could have been set into your normal template. If you post a link to a sample document with all nine heading levels displayed it would be easy to check.

Right click on the relevant Heading style in the Styles Gallery and then on Modify and check the formatting of the Style in the Modify Style dialog. Make changes as necessary and then click on OK. To be fair, it’s not one of those things that’s especially obvious, as demonstrated by another comment I received from someone else:.

When doing an automatic TOC, it keeps omitting one of my Heading 2 headings. It simply picks up all the heading 2s but one. I deleted the heading, retyped it and re-marked it as a Heading 2.

Then clicked update table. Still, no luck. Click “Heading 1” 4. Press enter and begin your next paragraph If you wish to create “Heading 2” under that, follow the steps above but just click “Heading 2” Then when you complete your document Insert your table of contents before your first heading depending on your writing style And it will show all headings.
