Office and Google Docs, the two apps I’ll focus on here, both have pluses and minuses. I’ll explore the features in both that make them worth your while so you can ultimately decide which program to pick.

The only downside to this feature is that it only works if you have the Skype app installed on your machine and use Skype for Business. While it includes several big changes, Office is all about the small touches. One little new feature that adds a lot of functionality is the ability to pick up where you left off in a document.
When you reopen a file you’ve been working on, Word shows you where you last worked and lets to jump to that place with one click. It’s essentially a bookmark for your documents, and it’s a fantastic tool for anyone working on a lengthy project over several days or weeks. That’s because Word, Excel and PowerPoint are packed with advanced features, like mail merge, detailed charts and animated slides that are missing or limited with other programs.

While Office focused on storing your documents in the cloud and introducing some touch improvements, Office is really designed to make sharing a lot easier across all your devices.
I can create an Office document from my PC and then edit on my phone or tablet, and not have to worry about moving the file manually onto those devices. Never before has this been so seamless, and Office embraces the cloud fully.
For example, Excel only has one notable change: six new chart types. There are a few visual changes and tweaks and a new gray theme that matches the dark look of Windows 10 very well.
Microsoft has made Word a little more intelligent this time around, with some new features that are helpful, rather than flashy additions you never use again. Microsoft is also making more use of Bing in Office A smart lookup feature lets you search for items in documents or emails to fact check or find the meaning of a phrase. Previous versions of Office have had similar functionality, but this feels a little more refined and easy to use. I still reach to my browser and Google stuff though, so I doubt this will be helpful for most people.
But the biggest addition in Word is real-time co-authoring. This has been previously reserved only for web versions of Office, and used widely on Google Docs. I usually like fooling around with Docs online when multiple people are editing, but this locking prevented me from playing the fool.
Alongside the big real-time editing addition, Office also includes a new version history side panel.
