Microsoft Office Pro Plus Free Download
Office arrives today with big updates to how you work with others. But how does it stack up against its number one adversary Google Docs?
Roughly three years since its last major update, Microsoft has finally brought Office into the modern working world. This new version, called Office on both Mac and PC, is the first to have collaboration and sharing tools that closely match what Google Docs has had for years. You can finally work with other people on a document, spreadsheet or presentation in real time, seeing what they are editing as they make changes.
Microsoft also added integrations with its search engine Bing and messaging and video-calling app Skype. These welcome additions blend seamlessly into the apps and continue Office’s tradition of having special extra features that it’s competitors don’t. For Office, which in recent years has been challenged by cheaper or free alternatives, the news is a big deal.
It keeps Microsoft ahead of the pack, especially for customers who can’t get by with another application. But can the updates do anything to win back folks who switched to the apps that Google and Apple have? There’s no definitive answer to that question, because it all comes down to what you need from these kinds of programs. Office and Google Docs, the two apps I’ll focus on here, both have pluses and minuses. I’ll explore the features in both that make them worth your while so you can ultimately decide which program to pick.
Using it, you can right click on a word to run a Bing search and get more information, without leaving Word, Excel or PowerPoint. Search results pop up in window on the right side, next to whatever you’re working on, and include results from Wikipedia, Bing images and Web results.
Click any of the links to open your browser and read more. The best part of Smart Lookup is that uses the context of the words around the one you selected to get the best search results. For instance, if you run Smart Lookup on the word “dating” in sentence about carbon dating, Bing will show results for carbon dating, not romance.
Google Docs has had a similar research tool for years, but it’s nowhere near as powerful as a this new Smart Lookup feature or even a regular Google search. Microsoft acknowledges that the Office apps have so many features that it can be hard to remember where to find all of them in their various menus.
So Microsoft’s Office team created a new search tool to help you find them. Think of it as a far less annoying and more helpful Clippy. In the ribbon main menu bar at the top for Word, Excel and PowerPoint, click on “Tell me what you want to do” and start typing the name of a feature you need. The app will find it and display the exact menu you need, without needing to dig around for it.
It’s a simple addition, but one that would have come in handy for me many years ago writing college papers and constantly forgetting where to find the footnote tool. The new Share menu in each app shows everyone who has access to that file.
Hover over a name and you’ll see a pop-up menu with quick links to send a message or start a voice or video call with Skype, without opening the Skype app on your computer. The only downside to this feature is that it only works if you have the Skype app installed on your machine and use Skype for Business. While it includes several big changes, Office is all about the small touches. One little new feature that adds a lot of functionality is the ability to pick up where you left off in a document.
When you reopen a file you’ve been working on, Word shows you where you last worked and lets to jump to that place with one click. It’s essentially a bookmark for your documents, and it’s a fantastic tool for anyone working on a lengthy project over several days or weeks. Microsoft Office has long been the standard for those who use word processors, spreadsheet tools and presentation builders at work. That’s because Word, Excel and PowerPoint are packed with advanced features, like mail merge, detailed charts and animated slides that are missing or limited with other programs.
And for many people, Excel is the gold standard program for crunching large amounts of data. Not to mention, Office was designed to work both online and off, so you can do your work no matter where you go. Google Docs can work offline, but you’ll need to have opened your file before you go off the grid. Google has improved Docs over the years, adding new features and making it work better, it still pales in comparison to what Office has been able to do for the last decade.
If your work requires a full range of features and offline editing, it’s still very hard to beat Office. Office introduces real-time typing to Word, where two or more people can work on a document at once, and you can see what everyone is typing. Each person is shown as a colored text cursor with their name that moves as they type. This works well, and as long as every person editing has a stable Internet connection, you’ll see changes and additions almost immediately. Multiple people can work at once, but this feature is only available in Word.
Google Docs has had this same feature for several years now, and what makes it better is that it works in Google’s presentation app Slides and in Sheets, the spreadsheet app. That gives Google the upper hand here — at least for the time being.
Microsoft has worked hard to make sharing much more seamless in Office , but unfortunately, it still doesn’t feel as easy as sharing in Google Docs. Type in an email address and decide if that person can only view the file or edit it, and click share to send them a link to the file. In my tests, sharing a file send an email to recipient, with a link to that file, instead of sharing an attachment.
Microsoft designed it that way to make sharing easier, without requiring that you download the file before you open it. However, clicking the link opens Office.
You can then open the file in the desktop versions of Word, Excel or PowerPoint for more advanced editing tools. The whole process feels like more work and more steps than sharing a file created in Google Docs.
For students, teachers, workers or anyone who just needs to write, edit, build spreadsheets and create presentations, it’s hard to beat Google Docs’ free tools. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides don’t have as many features as Office, but for many people they have enough to get the job done.
The full version of Office is going to cost you. Now, that’s what you’ll pay for the full version of Office, but Microsoft also has free tools with Office. You only need a free Microsoft account to use them. They offer all of the basic tools you’d need in each, and in most cases are only missing advanced features like tracking changes and a few chart types in Excel.
The Office apps for Android and iOS are a bit more limited, but still free. Even without an Office subscription, you can use them to create documents and make minor edits. If you have a subscription, you get advanced features, like tracking changes. Office isn’t just a fresh coat of paint — it’s a significant upgrade to Microsoft’s iconic productivity software. It makes meaningful changes to how you can work together with others on a single file or an entire project.
Office has come a long way since in the last few years and the extras you get with the versions are enticing, if you’re willing to pay. If you’re already an Office subscriber, you’re getting Office for free, included with your membership cost. There’s no reason not to upgrade, since you’re keeping all the same features from Office on PC and Office on Mac , plus getting the new features added in Office For those who don’t have an Office subscription and are considering getting one, Office might be the reason to bite the bullet.
It’s already brimming with every feature you could need, and now it’s especially useful for collaborating with others. Plus, with , you get 1TB of online cloud storage space, where you can save the files you create in Office so they’re accessible everywhere. It’s a good deal if you really need the extra features that Office has. If money is a factor in your decision, check out Office. Though it doesn’t have every single feature that the desktop apps do, the free online versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint have been updated for Office too.
Many of the sharing and collaboration tools I outlined above are included, and using those tools can help you decide if you need to spend the money for the full versions.
Like Google Docs and Apple’s iWork productivity suite, Office and the cloud-based tools included with Office will continue to evolve, changing how we work.
These three systems are getting closer in features and function with every new update, making it harder to deem one the best. We’ll be revisiting Office, Google Docs and other office suites in the near future, to explore them further and help you determine which one is right fit for your needs. Five reasons Microsoft Office is better than Google Docs, and three reasons it isn’t Office arrives today with big updates to how you work with others.

Microsoft Office doesn’t look very different to Officewith its use of solid colours and Ribbon bars that are almost entirely unchanged. Instead, the focus is on incremental improvements that primarily focus on the ubiquitous office suite’s cloud-based features. We’re fans of Office ‘s interface, so it’s certainly welcome to see that Microsoft hasn’t tried microsoft office 2016 pro review free fix anything that isn’t broken. Office users are getting the new versions first, with enterprise Volume Licence customers able to use the new software from the beginning of October.
Standard perpetual licence versions should be coming later in the year. When they do finally come out, perpetual licence editions won’t benefit from the same regular feature updates that VL and Office customers get. It’s currently not clear whether their online features work properly using the free Microsoft OneDrive cloud space that all Windows users are entitled to.
Office Business Premium adds extra storage, Skype for Business and email capabilities at 7. We’re still waiting for Android and iOS Skype for Business fred to be fully released, although the apps have now entered a preview phase accessible to some corporate users. The ProPlus edition comes in at OneNote, which is available free to all Windows users, also integrates with Officeand Microsoft Visio and Project can be added as separate product subscriptions.
Some of Office ‘s new features span multiple apps, such as the microsoft office 2016 pro review free patterns and themes that users can apply to all the Office apps associated with their account.
They can connect external services, too, from obvious options such as OneDrive and SharePoint, to Facebook and Twitter accounts. You can now search for the feature you want in all of the Office apps via the ‘Tell me what you want to do’ search box at the top of the Ribbon bar. All the Office apps also get access to Bing searches via its integrated smart lookup tool. We’d have liked the 20016 me search to have a better grasp of natural language and Office’s own features.
For example, in Word, it didn’t provide any useful suggestions when we asked microsoft office 2016 pro review free how to disable smart quotes – this compares badly to the massive flexibility and intelligence of Windows 10’s built-in Cortana search features. Perhaps the most useful and exciting feature of the entire Office suite is that you can now collaborate on Word documents in real time.
While Office users have been able to share Word documents for a long time, it’s not previously been possible for two people to work on the same document simultaneously. Attempting to do so sometimes resulted in multiple versions of the same file being saved in OneDrive storage.
The http://replace.me/16892.txt sharing and co-authoring features mean that, as long as your Word document is saved to OneDrive, rather than a local directory, you’ll be able to invite anyone to view or edit it. Your collaborators don’t need Office or Office subscriptions of their own freee view or even edit the documents you share with them, just the free Word Online app.
The first time you share a document with a guest editor, you can select to automatically share changes as they happen. Opt in to this and we strongly suggest that you do and you’ll get a truly collaborative working environment that easily rivals Google Docs. Word Online is itself a cut-down version of the desktop edition.
The mobile, web, and Windows 10 Word Online apps share a common, consistent interface. The feature selection is very similar to that provided by Google’s service, but the layout and interface are a slicker, albeit a little slower-loading. Users invited to collaborate will be able to pto files online even if they don’t have their own Office subscription. You get a range of text and page formatting options; it’s easy to insert tables, images and symbols, and we’re fans of Word Online’s spelling checker and on-screen word count in a bar at the bottom of the page.
It’ll even show ofvice count for a highlighted section of your document. Simultaneous online editing isn’t an entirely smooth and trouble-free experience however. We’re not too keen on the way microsoft office 2016 pro review free had to manually move from view mode to edit mode when accessing a shared Word Online file. Saving and loading files from OneDrive using the desktop version of Word can be sluggish if your internet connection is slow.
Refiew also noticed that files open on the desktop occasionally microsoft office 2016 pro review free sync with versions being edited geview. Even so, these are relatively minor issues with what’s become an outstanding online word processor that now capably spans the gap between desktop, microsoft office 2016 pro review free and mobile.
Word is quite simply the best word processor on the market. It’s also the first desktop word processor to allow collaborative editing of shared online documents, giving you all the features of the desktop with the syncing of purely web-based rivals such as Google Docs.
Like most of OfficeOutlook microsoft office 2016 pro review free little changed, which we appreciate, as sudden changes to your email client are rarely welcome.
However, there are a few new options, most of which are there to provide better integration допускаете windows 10 forgot password command prompt free download когда Office ‘s cloud-based sharing services. When you add file attachments from OneDrive or SharePoint to an email, you can choose whether recipients are allowed to only view them, or whether they microsoft office 2016 pro review free have edit permissions that’ll allow them to collaborate online and change the shared document.
If your business has moved its email to Microsoft’s Office cloud, using either an OnMicrosoft domain or mapping your own domain microsoft office 2016 pro review free the service, then your users will have access to Outlook’s Groups feature.
This makes it easy to offfice shared, fully archived message histories between groups of colleagues working on shared projects, for example. Even этот sony acid music studio 10 crack free нужные added group members will get complete access to the message archive, making it easy to bring them up to speed on the conversation.
Groups can also easily share file and calendars, and extra administration tools are available from Office ‘s online admin centre. Other improvements that Office mail users get include microsoft office 2016 pro review free inbox sorting in the продолжить of the Clutter feature.
This allows you to categorise email that’s low-priority but not entirely unwanted as “clutter”. Outlook will learn from your decisions over time and automatically file messages in the clutter folder so you can look at them at your leisure, without them getting in the way of more important items. Excel is perhaps the component of Office that has the fewest rivals. Although there are a number microsoft office 2016 pro review free fairly capable spreadsheet packages around, with Google Sheets microsoft office 2016 pro review free for a lightweight web-based alternative and LibreOffice Calc standing up to heavier use, none comes close to the sheer range of features that Excel provides.
Excel’s seen some of the most significant changes to any part of Mivrosoft. Its standard functions and interface remain unchanged from Officeso even your most complicated spreadsheets and macros will continue working.
However, Micrsoft has received some additions to its data importation and handling functions, which all ties in to Office ‘s more integrated, cloud connected update. The Data tab is now home to some functions previously only available through the Power Query add-in: you can now import data from a huge range of databases, both local and in the cloud. Other new features include a number of extra charting and data visualisation options, including waterfall charts for tracking changes to values over a time, box and whisker plots to show statistical variation, and sunburst charts to illustrate hierarchical data.
Ableton suite 8 system requirements free users microsift handle profit and loss, marketing, or sales data on a regular basis, ofvice data forecasting options have been refined. There’s now a one-click Forecast button under the Data tab, and rather than a simple frer forecast, exponential smoothing features have been added to even out inconsistencies caused by one-time data spikes in the past. Pivot tables have seen some of their most significant updates sincewith automatic relationship detection and time grouping, as well as in-table editing for advanced features such as custom measures.
Further incremental improvements include direct publishing to Microsoft’s PowerBI visualisation platform, automatic rotation for inserted images, extra shape styles for charts and diagrams, touchscreen support with microsoft office 2016 pro review free recognition for equations, and the same online integrations that the rest of Office has seen, with document sharing and built-in web searches.
However, there are a couple of improvements we were hoping for that haven’t глянуть will microsoft office professional 2013 work with windows 10 free download сообразили with this release. For example, Excel still lacks a convenient method of exporting graphs and charts as high resolution images.
Surprisingly, unlike Word and Google Sheets, two people can’t work on the same spreadsheet in real time unless both are using the less-feature rich Excel Online to access it. You can give others editing rights over your documents via Officebut if you keep your workbook open in Excel on freee desktop, they won’t be able to edit it.
You can продолжить people to edit your Excel workbooks, but if you have it open in Excel, they won’t be able to editing using Excel Online. The standard Professional edition of Office is microsoft office 2016 pro review free out by more specialist apps that have seen fewer changes than Word and Excel.
Microsoft Publisher has revuew listed changes at all, and hasn’t even acquired the otherwise universal ‘Tell me 20016 you want to do’ box.
However, the simple layout and desktop publishing suite remains an underrated gem: it’s very easy to use and allows anyone to quick put together simple newsletters, briefings and notices that require a little more formatting than Word is designed to handle. Microsoft Publisher doesn’t get any new features at all but is still an underrated gem.
PowerPoint ‘s most important upgrade is support for co-authoring, which means that you and a colleague can work on the same presentation together in real time, as long as it’s saved to your OneDrive cloud storage. Access might not be the most fashionable database development tool microdoft, but Microsoft’s been working hard to keep it relevant, with web app support and integration with SharePointalthough microsoft office 2016 pro review free product is currently in public beta.
The latest version of Access also introduces new templates to make it easier to organise your data. There are template options for creating web-based apps as well as local databases, and both options include plenty of tutorials and video guides pr help users who are new to database development.
It’s inevitable that most businesses will be upgrading to Office sooner or later, with many likely to be planning an upgrade almost immediately. The good news is that this ogfice version is great. Nothing’s been broken and the new features add value, particularly for enterprises that use Office as a cornerstone of their software ecosystem. Extra support for sharing and collaborative working mean that Office now feels like software that works as part of cloud-based system, very much improving on the previously awkward experience of trying to work online with colleagues using a combination of Office and Office Mobile.
Unfortunately, it’s not perfect when it comes working together online. You only get proper real-time collaboration and co-authoring in Word and PowerPoint. We really hoped that Excel would support full live co-authoring, too. While we can micrpsoft that it might not be appropriate for multiple people to work on a very complex workbook together, microsoft office 2016 pro review free have appreciated the option for simultaneous desktop access to источник статьи files, such as shared lists and price indexes.
Office is very much part of coordinated move towards a Software as a Service model for Office, and it remains to be seen how Microsoft will handle perpetual license versions. For those who don’t work in the Microsoft cloud or have any use for Officethere’s not really much to set the new edition apart from Office If that describes your business, then you might as well stick with Office for the moment.

The most prominent feature overall is a push towards document sharing and collaborative working, with Word finally getting real-time collaboration. There are also a number of more significant changes to Excel and Outlook plus a couple of new tools — Sway and Delve.
Otherwise the tweaks are largely modest, but they add up to a potentially significant change across the whole suite, depending on how you work and who you work with. Related: Windows 10 Review.
The most obvious change in Office is simply a tweak to the overall styling. Where Office sparingly used the signature colours that denote each app, for those colours are now splashed across the title bar and Ribbon menu via the default Colourful theme. This replaces the previous White theme, with Dark and Light options remaining and being essentially identical to that of Office This extra dose of colour ties in with Windows 10, which includes a new feature that lets program developers choose the colour of the title bar, without having to create a completely custom design.
The title bar and Ribbon are also ever so slightly larger than before and the labels for the Ribbon menu tabs have moved from all capitals to just the first letter being capitalised. It all adds up to a noticeable change though not an altogether significant one. The same could be said of the other main changes that span the whole Office suite. Related: Microsoft Edge Review. The first is the Share button that sits next to the account button on the right of the menu bar.
However, unlike the more universal share feature that allows any Windows 10 app to quickly share content with a variety of cloud storage and social media services, this only works in conjunction with One Drive. However, the other cross-program except OneNote and Publisher change is far more universally useful.
The biggest emphasis of Office is on sharing, both with the new sharing button and via inbuilt collaboration tools. Collaborative working has been available through Office for a while but only through a basic whole-document save and share system. With , though, Microsoft is moving towards real-time collaboration where multiple users can edit a document at the same time, just like in Google Docs.
For now, though, the job is far from complete. Proper real-time collaboration is only available in Word so far, with Excel and PowerPoint — the two other programs that would benefit most from collaboration — yet to get the feature.
As such collaborative working can be disjointed and variable. Related: Microsoft Surface Pro 3. In contrast, if you want to create a collaborative document in Google Docs you know that everyone that accesses it will be able to work on it in exactly the same way.
That said, Microsoft has thought of a way round this. The overall result is it is much easier to work with others in Office However, until Excel and PowerPoint get the same level of collaborative working, other office tools will likely continue to be the defacto way for multiple people not inside a single office structure to work together on words, data and presentations. Most Popular. Microsoft has been slowly refining Office over the past few versions, and the release takes that a step further. While Office focused on storing your documents in the cloud and introducing some touch improvements, Office is really designed to make sharing a lot easier across all your devices.
I can create an Office document from my PC and then edit on my phone or tablet, and not have to worry about moving the file manually onto those devices. Never before has this been so seamless, and Office embraces the cloud fully.
For example, Excel only has one notable change: six new chart types. There are a few visual changes and tweaks and a new gray theme that matches the dark look of Windows 10 very well.
Microsoft has made Word a little more intelligent this time around, with some new features that are helpful, rather than flashy additions you never use again. Microsoft is also making more use of Bing in Office A smart lookup feature lets you search for items in documents or emails to fact check or find the meaning of a phrase. Previous versions of Office have had similar functionality, but this feels a little more refined and easy to use. I still reach to my browser and Google stuff though, so I doubt this will be helpful for most people.
But the biggest addition in Word is real-time co-authoring. This has been previously reserved only for web versions of Office, and used widely on Google Docs. I usually like fooling around with Docs online when multiple people are editing, but this locking prevented me from playing the fool.
Alongside the big real-time editing addition, Office also includes a new version history side panel.
