Getting started with Office Starter

Although they are by HP, they can by used on many computers. Starter is not actually installed on your computer. Therefore there are limited things we as users can do to “fix” starter:.

Many thanks for your response. Just now, as I signed-in to Reply I use Google as my main Browser I prefer Bing.. If you have an HP PC it likely includes many utilities, some of which may give access to other updates.

I ended up just restoring my system to 4 days ago and it deleted the Microsoft Office update. Then I changed my update menu to where I have to approve all updates. I hope this works since I will not be making any more updates. My First Post. Suzanne S. Barnhill MVP. Note that, while Rohn’s instructions would have worked before the September updates, the fix for after the update is found in this post. From my understanding, the popup being referred to here is likely from the Click-to-Run Application Manager. I’m not sure why some of the MS support people here don’t seem to be familiar with it. It’s found within the Control Panel.

That is what takes care of all of the updates for Office Starter since it is based upon Click-to-Run virtualization technology.

Updates are installed to Starter through the Click-to-Run Application Manager, not through Windows Update, and since these updates are streamed that is the reason why an Internet connection is needed to stay on at least for the duration of the updates.

Although updates for Starter are becoming fewer and farther in between. Anyways, I hope this information is of some assistance to you. I am speaking from experience because I worked for such a company here in the USA It is a common culture of lying on their resumes to make themselves look good to do the jobs, then told to get in and learn the jobs hands-on. These people can read and speak the language however they cannot comprehend the English language. Worse, they are more familiar with the British dialect of English and not the Western dialect. Words and phrases take on different meanings in both dialects. And finally, it is one thing to speak the language but it is far more beneficial when they can comprehend in the language.

Most times what comes out of their mouths is something that has been scripted for them. Working on Wall Street with companies using outsources like TATA or Accenture the biggest battle was getting someone to answer a basic question but the response was always repetitive or in circles because it was causing them to go off-script. So to sum up the problems: 1 non-qualified individuals lacking experience to do the job2 individuals unable to comprehend in the foreign language The old saying fits perfect for companies that outsource to save money, “you get what you paid for”!
